action

The US Navy soldiers Rock Reilly and Eddie Devane are supposed to pick up a convicted sailor from a military prison guarded by the US Marines . Only then does a transmission error in the papers become clear, when one of the marines mockingly asks for the prescribed “female escort”. The convicted sailor turns out to be a woman, Toni Johnson.

During the trip for the transfer of Toni Johnson, the soldiers travel across the United States in a small Navy truck and experience numerous incidents that always end in Toni attempts to escape. For example, she tries to seduce Reilly and Devane in order to pull them on their side or at least make them less vigilant. While Reilly resists her seduction skills, Devane gets involved with Toni after a while. After spending the night with Devane, she flees again and again. On the next street she is hitchhiking with the laundry seller Doggie. Doggie wants her to try his show copies on. She apparently agrees, and while she supposedly changes, she steals his car. Reilly and Devane pursue Johnson again with the meanwhile damaged pickup truck. When they caught up with her again, they rammed her stolen vehicle several times with full force. Despite her reflex to flee, Toni stops and asks concerned whether everything is okay with the men. She then wants to flee further, but Reilly shoots the tires of her car, catches up with her on foot and puts her handcuffs. Reilly and Devane later quarrel, resulting in a fight.

Finally the trio arrives at the base and transfers Toni. Devane, who is now in love, finds it difficult to part with Toni there, but he does so anyway at Reilly's request. Then he goes to a bar and gets drunk. He then returns to the detention barracks very drunk to free Toni. There, however, Reilly is already waiting for him, who had expected something like this, and prevents him from making a mistake. The next day, other soldiers are supposed to transport Toni on. Reilly organizes a breakdown vehicle and clothing for Devane, and after the soldiers' van that Reilly has sabotaged breaks down, Devane - disguised as a breakdown service man - frees Toni. Reilly watches the liberation through binoculars and smiles.

In the last scene, Reilly gets a call from Toni and Devane, who live somewhere in South America . They call on the phone that they love him. Meanwhile, the woman, who Reilly met in a diner earlier on the trip, cleans his living room with light clothes.

Reviews

Rita Kempley accused the script in the Washington Post of April 26, 1994 for lack of originality and "unbearable" situations.

The lexicon of international film certified the road movie that it would "play a moderately exciting program of slapstick, puns and slapstick" without esprit and that only marginal traces of critical distance would be found.
