Spannagl & Sohn is a 13-part family series that was broadcast for the first time in December 1975 on ZDF's evening program .

content

The delicatessen dealer Gustav Spannagl runs a thriving delicatessen shop in a small Bavarian town together with his wife Elise. The situation changes when a supermarket opens its doors in the immediate vicinity. And if that wasn't enough, Spannagl's son Gerd becomes a branch manager at the competition. The news that her daughter Beate will drop out of her studies and open a practice for child psychology in her hometown where she can bring in her emancipatory ideas is of minor importance. Although he is secretly proud of his son's success, Spannagl Sr. does not let himself get down and starts a bitter guerrilla war against the supermarket together with other local business people. Gustav's friend Georg Jakob, who supplies both companies as a meat and sausage manufacturer, benefits from this in particular.

Others

As the ZDF wrote in a press release at the time, people believed there “that a series in which, in addition to pure entertainment, certain economic contexts are to be shown only has a chance with the viewer if the intellectual vehicle of the comedy is used very specifically. "

With the exception of the period between Christmas 1975 and New Year 1976, the series was broadcast at weekly intervals. Well-known Bavarian actors were seen in episode roles. Spannagl & Sohn was repeated by ZDF in 1979, followed by another broadcast on 3sat in 1992 . The series is now also available on DVD.
