Gert Albrecht

Gert Albrecht (born July 31, 1941 in Chemnitz ; died January 16, 2017 in Bochum ) was a German civil engineer and university professor . He was an expert in building large bridges.

biography

Gert Albrecht was the son of the builder Kurt Albrecht. He lived in Berlin from 1951 , attended grammar school there and graduated from high school in 1961 . From 1961 to 1968 he studied at the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Technical University of Berlin (TU Berlin) and worked as a student assistant at the chair for descriptive geometry and at the chair for steel construction. After completing his studies, he worked from 1968 to 1970 as a structural engineer in the Bridge Construction III department of the Friedr company . Krupp Maschinen und Stahlbau Rheinhausen . As a part-time job, he worked as a mathematics teacher at the municipal science high school in Rheinhausen . From 1970 to 1973 he worked as a research assistant at the chair for steel construction at the TU Berlin and from 1973 to 1978 as a research assistant at the chair for steel construction ( structural engineering II ) at the Ruhr University Bochum , where he received his doctorate in 1976 ("with distinction "). His dissertation was entitled “Contribution to the load-bearing width of T-beams in the elastoplastic area”. Gert Albrecht worked from 1978 to 1984 as a senior engineer at the Chair for Steel Construction ( Structural Engineering II ) at the Ruhr University Bochum and then until 1992 as a partner in the engineering office Haensel-Roik-Albrecht & Partner (HRA) with Karlheinz Roik and J. Haensel.

In 1992 Gert Albrecht was appointed full professor at the Chair of Steel Construction, Faculty of Civil Engineering and Surveying at the Technical University of Munich (TU Munich) and later elected Dean of the Faculty. From 1992 to 1996 he was managing director of the HRA engineering company, Munich branch and from 1996 to 2004 managing director of the engineering company Albrecht-Doblies mbH. From 2005 he was the owner of the engineering office Prof. Albrecht in the Albrecht & Garske Bürogemeinschaft im Bauwesen, Munich. In 2001 the TU Timisoara awarded him the title of honorary professor ( Profesor ónorific ). To mark Albrecht's 60th birthday, a commemorative publication appeared in 2001 with contributions and a. by Helmut Bode , Wolfgang Graße, Karsten Geißler, Gerhard Hanswille , Natalie Stranghöner, Ulrike Kuhlmann, Akimitsu Kurita , Karl-Eugen Kurrer , Joachim Lindner , Ingbert Mangerig, Hiroshi Nakai , Friedrich Nather , Gerhard Sedlacek , Geralt Siebert and Marcus Rutner.

Gert Albrecht worked as a checking engineer on projects including the Lehrter Bahnhof (II-IV), Neuötting Inn Bridge, Stahl Chain Bridge ( Nassau (Lahn) , Rosenaubrücke ( Kempten (Allgäu) ), Sinntal Bridge, Enzenstetten ( Seeg ) and Oberhartmannsreuth ( Gattendorf ) bridge (Upper Franconia) ) He was involved in maintaining the Schrannenhalle (Munich) and was a test engineer for the stadium construction of the Munich Allianz Arena .

He belonged to the German Steel Construction Association , the German Committee for Steel Construction and the Association of Consulting Engineers as well as the Association for Test Engineers for Structural Analysis (VPI) and was the founder and co-organizer of the Japanese-German-Bridge Symposium .
