German Committee for Steel Construction

The German Committee for Steel Construction (DASt) is a technical-scientific association founded in 1908 that deals with standardization and research for steel construction .

It was originally called the Committee for Trials in Iron Construction and was given its current name in 1935. The founder was the German Steel Construction Association , which also took over management. It has the legal form of a registered association.

It is made up of 32 representatives from building authorities, industry (steel construction and related branches of industry, engineering offices) and science (universities).

The committee receives public funding through the Association of Industrial Research Associations (AiF), of which it has been a member since 1959, and is also funded by industry.

He publishes reports from steel construction research and a series of research reports and organizes regular colloquia.

Chairman of the board is Gerhard Scheuermann , managing director Volker Hüller (2016). The seat is in Düsseldorf (Sohnstrasse 65).
