Gerhard Hanswille

Gerhard Hanswille (born November 24, 1951 in Herne ) is a German engineering scientist.

Life

Gerhard Hanswille studied at the Ruhr University in Bochum , where he did his doctorate on the subject of "Restricting crack widths in composite beams". He then worked as a senior engineer at the chair for steel construction. In 1993 he followed a call to the Bergische Universität Wuppertal , where he received a C3 professorship for steel construction. After a call from the University of Hanover that was rejected in 1996 , he became a C 4 professor for the field of steel and composite structures.

In 1998 Hanswille founded the Institute for Structural Engineering in Wuppertal . To this day he is its managing director. Since 2000 he has been a member of the German Committee for Steel Construction (DASt). In 2002 he was accepted into the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences and Arts . In 2006 he became chairman of the DASt research advisory board and deputy chairman of the entire committee. Hanswille has been a member of the University Council of Bergische Universität since 2007.
