Stefan Fritzen conducts the Mannheim Wind Philharmonic.

The Mannheimer Bläserphilharmonie (MBP) is a symphonic wind orchestra that emerged from the Symphonic Youth Wind Orchestra of the Mannheim City Music School . The orchestra took part in several international competitions and went on concert tours at home and abroad.

history

The orchestra was founded in 1987 as a symphonic youth wind orchestra of the Mannheim City Music School by Stefan Fritzen with musicians from the wind orchestra of the Mannheim City Music School. In 2003 the name was changed to Mannheimer Bläserphilharmonie .

With the retirement of the founder of the orchestra, Stefan Fritzen , the orchestra was reorganized in order to bring together the projects associated with it, in particular the "Mannheim Wind Academy", and in cooperation with other educational and cultural institutions, a new networked educational and leisure offer for young people Adults develop. On June 9, 2005, the sponsoring association was founded in Mannheim.

Several ensembles emerged from the orchestra, including the Young Brass Ensemble , the Brassissimo brass quintet and the Mannheim clarinet ensemble .

Concerts and concert tours

The orchestra and its ensembles perform regularly in the region, including at chamber music evenings. The orchestra has been giving concerts in the Mannheim rose garden in spring since 1992 . International performances and concert tours:

  • 4th to 10th August 1990: Isle of Man Festival
  • 1996: Concert tour USA with concert in the Boston Symphony Hall.
  • 1997: Concert tour in France
  • 1999: Concert tour to Japan
  • July 20 to 31, 2000: Finland: Turku and Seinäjoki
  • August 31 to September 14, 2004: concert tour to China
  • September 8-15, 2005: Brassissimo's concert tour to China
  • 2016: Concert tour to Italy
  • August 22 to September 10, 2019: Concert tour to China

  • 1989 1st German Federal Music Festival in Trier
  • 1991, 39th European Music Festival for Young People in Neerpelt (Belgium)
  • 1993 Music Festival Europe in Trier
  • 1997, 13th Wereld Muziek Concours (Netherlands), 316 points, 17th place out of 24 participants in the 1st division of the harmony orchestra (first place)
  • July 27-30, 2000, Seinäjoki / Finland, 2nd International Wind Orchestra Competition
  • 2001, 14th Wereld Muziek Concours (Netherlands), 91.1 out of 100 points, 7th place out of 16 participants in the 1st division of the harmony orchestra (first place with distinction)
  • January 2006, Prague (gold for the performance, winner in the highest level, special prize "best interpretation of the compulsory piece", best ensemble of the overall competition, Peter Vierneisel was awarded as the best conductor of the overall competition)
  • 2009, July 25th, 16th Wereld Muziek Concours (Netherlands), 91.58 out of 100 points. Participants in the 1st division (first place with distinction)
  • January 2012, international competition in Prague. Gold at the top level, best orchestra at the top level and overall winner of the competition.
  • 2013, 17th Wereld Muziek Concours (Netherlands), 90.0 out of 100 points, first prize with distinction, best German orchestra in the 1st division
  • 2017, 19th Flicorno d'Oro (Italy), 85.08 out of 100 points, third place in the highest level (Eccellenza category)
