Markus Theinert

Markus Theinert (born July 20, 1964 in Weingarten ) is a German tuba player and conductor .

Life

As a tuba player he achieved international recognition and premiered some works, some of which were composed for him. As a conductor he was shaped by Sergiu Celibidache , whose ideas of musical phenomenology exerted a significant influence.

Theinert worked with soloists such as the Beaux Art Trio, the violinist Valerie Gillard, the violinist Corrado Bolsi, the pianist Juan Chuquisengo, the cellists Dietmar Schwalke and Christoph Theinert .

His conducting in the field of symphonic brass music is particularly noteworthy. He has developed a preference for the line-up of brass bands based on the English model. He has conducted the British Leyland Brass Band several times and, for many years, the Brass Band Oberschwaben-Allgäu.

From 2001 to 2015 he was artistic director and conductor of the symphonic wind orchestra of the Upper and Lower Bavarian Music Association .

As a juror and lecturer, he works at various competitions and festivals. He developed the symphonic wind orchestra of the Bavarian Police into one of the leading police music corps in Germany. From September 1, 2006 to summer 2015, he was the director of the Mannheim Wind Philharmonic .

Parallel to his musician career, Theinert was also active in business and worked for the company Miraphone Instruments in Waldkraiburg for 23 years , most recently as CEO . Since 2015 he has been Vice President Marketing at the US instrument maker Conn-Selmer .
