Christoph Theinert

Christoph Theinert (* 1959 ) is a German cellist and composer .

Life

Theinert received his training from Annemarie Dengler-Speermann, Antonio Janigro , Antonio Meneses , Anner Bylsma and Hidemi Suzuki . Master courses with Heinrich Schiff , Boris Pergamenschikow , János Starker and others influenced his cellistic development. In 1996 he was visiting professor at Toho Gakuen School Of Music Tokyo.

As a soloist and chamber musician, he plays the core repertoire for baroque cello, cello piccolo and modern cello. He works with his brother, the conductor Markus Theinert . As a composer, he primarily writes works for the cello.

Influenced by Lukas Foss , Joaquín Rodrigo , Egberto Gismonti , Jean Michel Jarre , Steve Reich , Phil Glass , Giovanni Sollima and others, he seeks the connection between world music and avant-garde classical music.

So far, recordings with works by Bach, Boccherini and Vivaldi have been made on the Ancient Music Edition label. He has made solo appearances in Europe, Japan and the United States.
