Peter Vierneisel

Peter Vierneisel (born July 29, 1974 in Mannheim ) is a German conductor and music teacher. He is the founder and director of the " Deutsche Dirigenten-Akademie " as well as honorary professor for orchestral conducting and music education at the University of Potsdam . There he also directs the Academic Wind Philharmonic Potsdam.

Career

Born in Mannheim in 1974, he studied school music, German and pedagogy at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz . This was followed by a degree in orchestra leader and conductor at the Maastricht University of Music .

He put his focus on the field of symphonic brass music . He worked with various orchestras, both professional and amateur. Immediately after completing his studies, he became chief conductor of the Brandenburg State Police Orchestra , which he headed for seven years (until 2010). In addition, he worked with, among other things

together.

In addition to his artistic activity, one focus is on the training of conductors. He teaches orchestral conducting in the music and music education department at the University of Potsdam and gives courses at the “German Conductors Academy”.

From 2004 to 2006 Vierneisel was artistic director of the instrumental and orchestral academy "Mannheim Wind Academy". From 2005 to 2008 he was musical director of the music theater "Potsdamer Days of New Music for Children". He is a member of the Presidium of the Brandenburg State Music Council (Department of Instrumental Music) and the WASBE (World Association for Symphonic Bands & Ensembles), Section Germany.

Awards

In January 2006, Vierneisel and the Mannheim Wind Philharmonic received five first prizes in the orchestra competition “International Music Festival Prague 2006”, among others in the categories of best conductor, best interpretation and overall victory.
