Siegfried Rundel (born April 27, 1940 in Bußmannshausen ; † April 9, 2009 in Memmingen ) was a German composer , arranger and music publisher .

Life

Siegfried Rundel played the trombone as a teenager in the Musikverein Bußmannshausen and tried his hand at his first compositions and arrangements. His teachers included Hans Felix Husadel , Gustav Lotterer and Hellmut Haase-Altendorf . He learned the trade of toolmaker and continued his education as a composer and conductor . In 1961 he was offered the position of conductor at the local wind orchestra in Rot an der Rot and a few years later he was also a conductor in Baltringen and Ummendorf . He later became district youth leader in the Biberach wind music district association and deputy district conductor.

In 1964 Rundel founded a music publisher in Rot an der Rot , initially as a part-time job and mainly as a sheet music distributor. In 1968 he made publishing his main occupation. Siegfried Rundel wrote more than 40 original compositions and 200 arrangements, mainly in the field of popular and entertaining music. He set great store by the sound of wide- bore wind instruments and, regardless of the genre, instrumented primarily for such ensembles.

Rundel music publisher

Siegfried Rundel saw a lack of playable literature for rural wind orchestras. That is why he edited and published works for amateur wind orchestra from 1969 onwards. As a result, works by Hans Hartwig and Walter Tuschla , later also Franz Watz , Kurt Gäble , Manfred Schneider , Albert Loritz and Kees Vlak appeared in his publishing house. After the fall of the Berlin Wall , he also published works by authors from the former GDR such as Josef Bönisch , Klaus-Peter Bruchmann and Siegmund Goldhammer and by Czech authors such as Zdeněk Lukáš , Karel Bělohoubek , Evžen Zámečník and Pavel Staněk . In 2001 he handed over the management of the music publishing house to his sons Thomas and Stefan Rundel.
