Pavel Staněk

Pavel Staněk (born June 3, 1927 in Prague ) is a Czech conductor and composer .

biography

Pavel Staněk studied double bass at the Prague Conservatory from 1946 to 1951 and was choir director of the state folklore ensemble from 1950 to 1954. In 1954, as part of military service, he switched to the music corps of the Ministry of the Interior (today the Burgwache Orchestra ) and took over the leadership of a large wind orchestra for the first time. He stayed there for almost six years as artistic director and conductor. From 1961 to 1963, Pavel Stanek was the conductor of the Na Fidlovacce operetta theater in Prague and, at the same time, the conductor and conductor of the choir and orchestra of the heavy machinery factory CKD Praha . From 1963 he became head of the Czechoslovak Radio Orchestra in Ostrava and held this position until his retirement in 1990. During this time he was also a guest conductor with other orchestras, including the North Moravian wind orchestras Krnov, Jeseník, Vítkovák, Hrabùvka, Koprivnice, but also that Radio brass orchestra in Leipzig .

As a composer, he was influenced by Bohemian and Moravian folklore, but also by modern music, serious contemporary music including experimental music and music from earlier periods.
