Franz Watz

Franz Watz (born March 9, 1949 in Neu-Arad , Banat , People's Republic of Romania ) is a musician, composer and arranger who also works under pseudonyms such as Joe Grain .

Life

Franz Watz attended a music high school and played the clarinet and piano. He then studied music education , musicology and tuba at the University of Music in Cluj-Napoca . After the state examination he played in dance and entertainment orchestras and founded a youth wind orchestra. From 1972 to 1976 he was a member of the Arad Philharmonic Orchestra and taught music at the German-speaking grammar school. From 1977 to 2013 he was musical director of the Ehningen Music Association. He has been composing and arranging for various publishers since 1979. He has been active as a freelance composer, conductor and teacher in brass music since 1985. After 20 years as a conductor in Ehningen , Franz Watz was appointed Music Director of the Musikverein by the Ehningen City Council in 1997.
