Vladimír Fuka

Vladimír Fuka (born May 25, 1920 in Dačice ; †  November 22, 1996 there ) was a Czech composer .

Life

Vladimír Fúka's musical career began at the age of 6 on the violin . At the age of 14 he made his first public appearance as a violinist and harmonica player in a jazz band . In 1940 he graduated from the teacher training college in Moravské Budějovice and studied composition and conducting at the Brno Conservatory until the end of 1942 .

After the Second World War he started working as a teacher in Slavonice . In 1955 he returned to his hometown and taught music and the Czech language at elementary school and high school.

As a composer, Vladimír Fuka wrote pieces in the fields of church music, ballet music, choral and dance music, operettas and brass music. Fúka wrote over 200 works. In German-speaking countries, the Slavonická polka is his best-known composition. With her trio-text "A new day will only be beautiful ..." she is part of the repertoire of many wind orchestras.

Vladimir Fuka died on November 22, 1996 in his native Dačice.
