occupation

Commissioner Dupin is a crime film series of ARD with Pasquale Aleardi in the role of the Commissaire Georges Dupin emitted since, 2014. The series is based on the novels by Jörg Bong , which have been published under the pseudonym Jean-Luc Bannalec . All films that have been released so far have been shot on their original locations in Brittany .

action

The idiosyncratic Commissaire Georges Dupin is transferred from Paris to Brittany to Concarneau , and since he is used to living in the big city, he has problems finding his way around the Breton province. Because the Bretons are also very headstrong and reserved towards strangers, Dupin has to gain respect through good investigative work and learn to adapt to the lifestyle of the locals. He is also supported by his secretary Nolwenn, who gives him tips on the peculiarities of the Bretons. In the course of the series, the respect of those around him increases and he is no longer treated as a tourist from abroad, as it was at the beginning. However, its “Parisian origins” cannot always be shaken off completely as the course progresses.

Special features of the film

Differences from the books

The character of the commissioner is completely different in the films than in the books. While Dupin is visibly "Bretonized" and very sedate in the literary original, in the films he always remains a neurotic city dweller and a stranger among the Bretons. In the novels he has a pronounced predilection for maritime dishes, but in the films he has a (presumably imagined) allergy to fish. The commissioner's assistants are also depicted completely differently and designed more like caricatures.

Locations

The police headquarters featured in the films is actually the Le Center des Arts de Concarneau (CAC) theater . The interior shots with a view of the sea are also shot there.
