Philippe Caroit (born September 29, 1959 in Paris ) is a French actor .

Life

Training and beginnings

Philippe Caroit was born the fourth of seven children to a Parisian family. His father was a doctor and headed the rheumatology department of a hospital. Caroit, who traveled extensively in his youth and got to know distant countries, was a gifted student and passed his Baccalauréat (Section C, les mathématiques et les sciences physiques ) at the age of almost sixteen . Like his father, he first decided to study medicine , but at the same time took acting lessons at the Conservatory in Montpellier ( conservatoire de Montpellier ).

Parallel to his medical studies, he received his first film roles in artistically demanding cinema productions in French auteur cinema . Directed by Éric Rohmer , he played the friend of François, the hero of the story, in his film The Aviator's Wife or You Can't Think of Nothing (1981). This was followed by a role as a young student in Enigma (1982). The following year he starred in Liberty Belle , directed by Pascal Kané .

In the sixth year of his medical training, which he u. a. graduated from the Hôpital Cochin in the 14th arrondissement of Paris, he decided to give up the medical profession and devote himself entirely to acting. Cinema and television

He made his TV debut in the TV film Les Secrets de la princesse de Cadignan (1982) by director Jacques Deray based on a literary model by Honoré de Balzac . Caroit has now worked in over 100 film and television productions. Caroit is the father of a daughter who came from his relationship with the French actress and producer Caroline Tresca (* 1959), with whom he was in a relationship until 2008.
