Mogadishu (film)
Mogadishu is the title of a German television thriller produced in 2008 , the plot of which reconstructs the hijacking of the “Landshut” plane in October 1977.
The first broadcast took place on November 30, 2008 on the German television station Das Erste and on the Austrian ORF 2 .

A group of the Red Army Faction (RAF) kidnapped the German employer president Hanns Martin Schleyer in the autumn of 1977 . With this action, the RAF wants to press like-minded people out of the prisons. To back up their demand, the terrorists contacted Wadi Haddad , the leader of a Palestinian group that specializes in hijacking airplanes . This appoints a team of four, led by Zohair Youssif Akache .
Captain Mahmud, as he now calls himself, and the three other members of the terrorist squad then kidnap the “Landshut” , a Lufthansa aircraft . For the passengers and the crew, led by pilot Jürgen Schumann , excruciating days begin. After several intermediate stops and the murder of Schumann, the kidnapping ends at the airport in the Somali city of Mogadishu as a result of a rescue operation by GSG 9 .
Background information
The film was shot between October and December 2007 in locations in Munich , Berlin , Ulm and Bonn as well as in the Moroccan city of Casablanca . The working title was Mogadishu Welcome .
Among other things, the film shows the Sud Aviation Caravelle with registration number CN-CCX, parked in Casablanca by Royal Air Maroc , on which the "Somali" task force is rehearsing the storming of the machine.
When the film was first broadcast at 8:15 p.m., an average of 7.34 million viewers saw it, which corresponds to a market share of 21.2 percent. The film is available in stores on DVD.
The SWR production Mogadishu - The Documentation was created parallel to the film . Screenwriter Maurice Philip Remy combined unused film scenes with eyewitness interviews.
