Saïd Taghmaoui (born July 19, 1973 in Villepinte , France ) is a French-American actor .

biography

Saïd Taghmaoui grew up in a large family with nine siblings and grew up in a suburb of Paris; he has Moroccan roots. He left school to be a boxer .

He later met Mathieu Kassovitz and wrote the film Hass with him . The film, in which Taghmaoui plays one of the leading roles, addresses the racism and violence triggered by inter-ethnic conflicts in the French suburbs . In 1996, Saïd Taghmaoui was nominated for "The Most Promising Actor" for his role in Hate for a César .

Since 2008, Taghmaoui has had both French and US citizenship.

In 2018 he was appointed to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences , which awards the Oscars every year.
