The big ProSieben PokerStars.de night (from 2006 to 2015 the TV total PokerStars.de night as well as the TV total EuroPoker.net night when it was first broadcast ) was a television program on the private broadcaster ProSieben in which five celebrities and one candidate who had previously qualified online , played the poker variant No Limit Texas Hold'em against each other . Up until the end of 2015, the program, which was sponsored by the online poker room PokerStars from the second episode onwards, was hosted as a special broadcast as part of TV total by Stefan Raab . After Raab's career ended at the end of 2015, she continued for one episode under the leadership of his former colleague Elton .

Game format

In one edition, a tournament was played with six participants, with Stefan Raab always taking part until the end of 2015 and Elton almost always since the beginning. The remaining places were occupied by various celebrities and an online qualifier.

Moderation

Moderator Oliver Welke and poker expert Michael Körner from Sport1 initially led the show, while Gaby Sanejstra and Stefanie Quint alternated as croupiers . In October 2010, Jessica Kastrop , who until then worked exclusively at Sky , took over from Oliver Welke. From December 17, 2013, Natalie Hof moderated .

In the 25th edition, Michael Körner took an active part in the poker tournament; his task as an expert was taken over by the professional poker player Jan Heitmann , who otherwise was one of the coaches of the prominent participants. The online qualifier Xenos won this anniversary program, while Körner himself came fourth.

The average placements of the two regular participants Stefan Raab (3.82) and Elton (3.00) were close to the expected value of a uniform distribution (3.50), with Raab doing slightly worse and Elton slightly better on average. Likewise, the balance for the online qualifiers (3.11) was slightly above average, for the women (3.85), however, slightly below average (episodes 18, 21 and 30 with two women, episode 23 without female participation, otherwise always one each) .

Raab won four times while Elton won ten times. If Raab and Elton were heads-up , i.e. the last remaining at the table, Elton always won (issues 6, 37 and 45). From episode two to five, the online qualifier won every time. Simone Thomalla was the first woman to win in the eighth edition.

All in (everything at risk)

Klaas Heufer-Umlauf and Michael Wendler were guests in the 26th show on September 18, 2012 . When the two fought a duel, Raab demanded Michael Wendler with the words “Come on, Wendler! All in! * Clap, clap *. Everything at risk. Lalalala la lala. “To all in on. In doing so, Raab imitated the hit style that is so typical of Wendler, so he tried to caricature it in a comedic way . After the audience commented on Raab's contribution with laughter, he immediately picked up his idea again, but now replaced the double clapping with another “All in!”. Here, however, by changing the pitch of the voice and gesturing with his arms, he indicated that this, although he now spoke it himself, should actually be called out by the audience or a backing choir in his spontaneous musical idea. He then even told the audience that they should join in. He repeated it several times with great audience participation. Even commentator Michael Körner said very quickly to presenter Jessica Kastrop “That's really not bad, is it? That goes through as a hit. ”After the river, Klaas Heufer-Umlauf actually went all in. A spectator from the audience shouted“ All in! ”And Raab replied“ Everything at risk! ”. In the course of the program, Raab continued to work on the song in his head and presented further lines of text.

In the end, Raab won the tournament, it was his second victory. Immediately after the broadcast, the song, which had meanwhile been written and produced, was presented with a music video. In contrast to the regular TV-total programs, which are usually recorded a few hours before the broadcast, sometimes the day before, the poker shows are recorded many days in advance. So after the poker show, Raab still had some time to finish writing the song, record it in the studio and shoot a music video. The music video shows Raab singing and with a guitar in the studio and uses excerpts from the poker show. Many of the excerpts from the show show situations in which Raab is the best of the newly invented line of text.

From the next show, which was broadcast on October 9, 2012, the previous theme music was replaced by part of the refrain of Raab's new song until Raab's career ended. The music was played in when the show started and when it went into or out of the commercial. At the end of the show, however, the previous music was still played. The old theme music was used again for the April 2016 edition.
