Stefanie Kloß (born October 31, 1984 in Bautzen , Dresden district , GDR ) is a German singer who became known as the front woman of the German-speaking pop-rock band Silbermond .

Life

Stefanie Kloß grew up with an older sister in Caminau in Upper Lusatia in Saxony . As a student she gained her first musical experience in a choir of the youth music project Ten Sing . In 1998 she was introduced to their cousins Johannes and Thomas Stolle through a friend . With Andreas Nowak (drums) and Maximilian Maneck (keyboard) they founded the six-member cover band Exakt . From 2000 Kloß, Nowak and the Stolle brothers formed the band JAST , which was renamed Silbermond in 2002. In 2003 the band signed a record deal with BMG ; In the same year Kloß passed the Abitur at the Philipp-Melanchthon-Gymnasium in Bautzen .

After the release of their debut album Verschwende Your Zeit in 2004, Silbermond quickly rose to become one of the most commercially successful German bands. Like the debut, the follow-up albums Laut thought (2006), Nothing happens (2009), Himmel auf (2012) and Leichtes Gepäck (2015) as well as the best-of album Alles auf Anfang (2014) reached the top 5 of the German album charts . In addition, Kloß also appeared - solo or together with her Silbermond band colleagues - as a guest musician with other artists. In 2005 she played with Thomas Stolle as a guest on the Silly & Guest tour , for which a live DVD was released. In the same year she sang for the CD project Selma - Wrapped in Sehnsucht the poem Yes , set to music by David Klein , by Selma Meerbaum-Eisinger, a Jew who died in a labor camp in 1942 . Together with Marta Jandová , Suzie Kerstgens , Elke Brauweiler and Valentine, she took the title Sing your life , published in 2007, for the campaign Mädchen Checken das of the Deutsche Krebshilfe Foundation, which was intended to call on young women to be vaccinated against cervical cancer . In the same year she read excerpts from the memoirs of the Holocaust survivor Lucille Eichengreen for an audio book for the initiative Laut gegen Nazis , while her band colleague Andreas Nowak spoke poems by Ruth Rosenfeld . In 2008 she was a guest singer for The Deal on Udo Lindenberg's number one album Stark wie zwei . In the same year as a collaboration of rapper reached Curse resulting silver moon Single Until the end the German charts. In 2011 the song We Are One was released as a duet between Tom Lüneburger and Stefanie Kloß.

In 2010, Kloß was a guest judge in the final of Unser Star for Oslo , a year later in the first edition of Unser Song for Germany . In 2014 and 2015 she was seen as a coach in the fourth and fifth season of the talent show The Voice of Germany ; afterwards she decided against further cooperation in order to concentrate more on her band activities. In 2016 she voiced the German version of the animated film Sing the porcupine Ash. In 2017 she took part in the fourth season of Sing my song - Das Tauschkonzert . With Meine Heimat (Original Home by Lena Meyer-Landrut ) sung alongside Moses Pelham in the third episode of the season , she reached the singles charts in Germany and Switzerland in June 2017 . Her version of An Angel (original by the Kelly Family ) was also able to place in Switzerland. In February 2017, Kloß was a member of the 16th Federal Assembly . She was nominated by the SPD Saxony .

In 2020 Kloß will return to the talent show The Voice of Germany and form a duo coaching team with singer Yvonne Catterfeld .

Private

Stefanie Kloß has been the mother of a son since April 2018; The child's father is Silbermond guitarist Thomas Stolle.
