In the summer of 2007, Heinzmann applied as a singer for the casting competition SSDSDSSWEMUGABRTLAD , which was conceived by Stefan Raab as part of his television show TV total , and was selected by the organizers from the 20 participants in the decision-making shows. With interpretations of mainly soul and funk classics , she made it into the finals of the best four. There she prevailed on January 10, 2008 in the telephone vote of the audience as the first Swiss woman in a German casting show against her competitors and won a record deal with Universal Music . In May 2008 Stefanie Heinzmann and her brother, who is her manager , founded Heinzmann-Productions GmbH .
2008–2009: master plan
In the finale of Stefan Raab's show Stefanie Heinzmann sang her first track My Man Is a Mean Man , which was written by Swedish producers Gustav Jonsson, Tommy Tysper and Marcus Sepehrmanesh. On January 11, 2008, the day after the final, this song appeared on an EP along with the songs of the other three finalists . Heinzmann's first own album Masterplan was produced in the Berlin Numarek studios by Marek Pompetzki and Paul NZA and released on March 7, 2008. The song Xtal was written by her older brother Claudio, who motivated her to participate in the casting and who has been her manager since then. The album, like the single My Man Is a Mean Man, was awarded gold in Germany and double platinum in Switzerland.
In February 2008 Heinzmann sang together with the group Tower of Power in the Volkshaus Zurich their song Only So Much Oil in the Ground , with which she was already successful in the final of the casting show. In March she drove at the Wok World Championships in Altenberg in a four-person wok, which fell in the second run. She also presented her song Like a Bullet , which was released as the second single in April. In the same month she appeared on RTL in The Ultimate Chartshow and was ranked 13th in the ranking of the “most successful casting stars”. Two days later she was awarded the Prix Walo as the best newcomer in Interlaken . She was also nominated in the crowd favorite category. From May to September 2008, Heinzmann completed a festival tour where she appeared at various open-air events in Germany and Switzerland. She was also on stage at the largest music festival in Valais, the Open Air Gampel . In autumn 2008 she went on a club tour through Germany. Several members of BigFisch belonged to her band.
In October 2008 Heinzmann released the single The Unforgiven . The song made it to number ten in Poland and number 18 in the charts in Turkey. In November, Deluxe Edt appeared with Ltd. a new edition of the album Masterplan with five bonus tracks and a bonus DVD. Heinzmann's debut album stayed in the German charts for 54 weeks.

In October, Heinzmann's The Unforgiven was number one on the Radio 1 pop charts in Greece and number two on the radio airplay charts.
In November Heinzmann met her role model Joss Stone for a recording of a duet with the song Unbreakable on TV total. A day later, Stefan Raab broadcast excerpts from the performance on his show. Heinzmann had to cancel a tour planned for December 2009 and January 2010 in Switzerland, Austria and Germany at short notice because of an operation on the vocal folds , during which edema had to be removed. The appearances have been made up since April 20, 2010. With her album Roots to Grow she was nominated for the second time in a row for the Swiss Music Awards. In January 2011 Heinzmann gave their first concert in the United States together with the group Tower of Power .
