Marlon Roudette
Marlon Roudette (* 5. January 1983 in London as Marlon Roudette-McVey ) is a British musician and singer-songwriter . He lived in St. Vincent ( Caribbean ) from the age of six . He gained fame as part of the duo Mattafix , whose number one hit Big City Life he wrote.
life and career
Marlon Roudette is the son of designer Vonnie Roudette and Cameron McVey , the producer of bands like Massive Attack , Portishead , All Saints , Sugababes and singer Neneh Cherry , who is now Roudette's stepmother. Roudette was influenced by the music of Gregory Isaacs and Massive Attack. He was also inspired by Sam Cooke , Aretha Franklin and Sade . His music is a mix of pop and reggae . In addition to the steel pan , his first instrument, he also plays guitar and keyboard .
In 2003 he co-founded the duo Mattafix , which had its biggest hit in 2005 with the debut single Big City Life . The last release of the duo appeared in 2008, since 2011 Marlon Roudette has published as a solo artist.
On August 16, 2011, the song New Age from the film What a Man by Matthias Schweighöfer was released . It reached number one in Germany , Switzerland and Austria . The corresponding album Matter Fixed also reached high chart positions. This was followed by the singles Anti Hero (Brave New World) , which also achieved high chart positions, and Hold on Me .
On August 8, 2014, the album Electric Soul was released. The first single from it, When the Beat Drops Out , was released in advance on July 18, 2014 and went straight to number one in the German single charts . The song was produced with Gail Mosley and Jan Vollers, among others, and the video was recorded a short time later by Director Alexander Brown. Roudette is under contract with the Universal Music Group .
Today he lives in Olten , Switzerland with his wife and two children .
