All Saints are a British girl group named after All Saints Road in Ladbroke Grove, London , where the group's story began in the studio Studio 1. The group members are sisters Nicole and Natalie Appleton, Melanie Blatt and Shaznay Lewis.
History of the group
In 1993 the group was founded as All Saints 1.9.7.5 by Melanie Blatt, Shaznay T. Lewis and Simone Rainford. Several singles have been released. In 1995, the Appleton sisters for Rainford were added and the group was renamed All Saints. The breakthrough came in the fall of 1997 with the successful singles I Know Where It's At and Never Ever . The debut album All Saints also featured successful songs such as new interpretations of Lady Marmalade , originally by Patti LaBelle and Under the Bridge by Red Hot Chili Peppers . At the end of 1999 the Remix Album was released due to the continued success of their first album . Because of Melanie Blatt's pregnancy, which gave birth to a daughter on November 22, 1998, the All Saints paused for a long time. In early 2000, the four women came back together, and it followed their second studio album Saints and Sinners , which includes the hits Black Coffee , All Hooked Up and the soundtrack title Pure Shores from the film The Beach . At the end of 2001, the greatest hits album All Hits followed , and shortly afterwards the group separated.
In the spring of 2006 the group got together again. The first single from the new album Studio 1 was called Rock Steady and was released at the end of October 2006. It was again among the top 10 in Great Britain. After the second single Chick Fit only reached number 189 in the download charts, it did not even become official released. On September 12, 2008, the All Saints announced at a press conference that they would record a new album. However, since it was not possible to find a new record company, Melanie Blatt finally announced the final dissolution of the group in August 2009. In September 2010 another Greatest Hits album was released entitled Pure Shores: The Very Best of All Saints .
A second reunion was announced in November 2013. At the beginning of 2014 the band appeared on five dates in the opening act of the Backstreet Boys . They also gave a concert in London's GAY nightclub and performed at the V Festival. In early July 2015, the band released a teaser video announcing a big comeback and new music. Their fourth studio album, Red Flag , was released on April 8, 2016 and was number 3 in the UK album charts. The first single One Strike was released on February 23, 2016 and is about the separation of Nicole Appleton and Liam Gallagher . Another single was This Is a War in May and One Woman Man in October . In October 2016, the band also completed the Red Flag tour, All Saints' first tour in 15 years.
All Saints will be back on stage in spring 2017 when they support Take That on their new UK tour Wonderland . According to previous announcements, they will be present at all concerts on the tour, up to 32 sold-out arenas in the UK.
Solo projects of the individual members
Nicole and Natalie have since formed a duo and used their last name Appleton as the band name. Between autumn 2002 and mid-2003 the three singles Fantasy , Don't Worry and Everything Eventually as well as the album Everything's Eventual were released .
In the summer of 2004 Shaznay Lewis made her debut as a solo artist with the album Open and two extracts from it. Melanie Blatt was also able to prove herself as a solo artist in spring 2005 with the music for the film Robots , to which she contributed the theme music.
Founding member Simone Rainford died on May 25, 2013 at the age of 38 of complications from kidney cancer .
