Big City Life is a song by British hip-hop duo Mattafix . It is included on the Signs of a Struggle album. The song had its success thanks to radio DJs Pete Tong, Zane Low and Jo Wiley, who promoted the song on the BBC radio station . The single was released on August 8, 2005 in Great Britain and a little later in Germany. The song reached the top of the charts in 5 countries and came in second in Europe. Part of the chorus is sung in the Jamaican Creole language . Mattafix won the 2006 Sopot Festival with the song in the competition. The title is featured in the track list of the 2006 FIFA World Cup video game . In Germany the single reached platinum status, reached number 7 on the annual charts and number 58 on the decade charts. The song was one of the first successful music videos to be uploaded to YouTube . The video was published there only half a year after YouTube was founded. Today the video has several million views.
