Jan Heitmann (born September 20, 1976 in Olpe ) is a professional German poker player and trainer. His nickname "Erdnase" is a tribute to one of the most important card magicians, SW Erdnase .
biography
From 1998 to 2003, Heitmann studied business administration at the University of Applied Sciences for Management in Vallendar and successfully completed his studies with a degree in business administration.
He came into contact with poker for the first time in 1994, and gained his first experience of real games while studying at the Wiesbaden casino. At that time limit cash games of the variants Omaha - and Texas Hold'em as well as Stud were played .
After receiving his diploma, Heitmann went on a poker trip through Europe with the aim of financing his trip through the game of poker.
At the same time, the poker boom set in in the USA, and a few years later the poker boom came to Germany. Heitmann was able to use his knowledge and media affinity to become one of the most famous personalities on the German poker scene.
Heitmann is one of the most renowned poker experts in Germany. He played for Team PokerStars until the end of 2015 and has been the figurehead for poker in Germany for years. When he is not playing himself, he shares his knowledge with others, whether as a poker coach , Sport1 poker expert or celebrity trainer for the PokerStars.de night on ProSieben . As a keynote speaker, he also transfers poker concepts to business decisions.
Heitmann is married and has two daughters, he lives in Munich .

Career
His greatest successes to date include second place at the European Poker Classics at Victoria Casino London , two final tables at the European Poker Tour in Monte-Carlo 2005 and ninth place at the 2006 World Heads-Up Championships in Barcelona . At the main event of the World Series of Poker in 2012 in Las Vegas, he finished 26th, which brought him his highest cash win to date with just under 300,000 US dollars . A month later, he won the main event of the German Championship of Poker for a further 104,800 euros .
In total, Heitmann has earned around one million US dollars with poker in live tournaments.
