The best show in the world is the name of a German television show that was first broadcast on April 30, 2016 on the private broadcaster ProSieben . In the show, the moderators Joachim Winterscheidt and Klaas Heufer-Umlauf each present three independent show concepts. After all six shows have been performed, the studio audience decides which show will win the title of “best show in the world” or “worst show in the world”. Voting is done with voting devices that every viewer in the audience has had since the beginning of the show. These "remote controls" can also be used for the interactive design of the show. Jeannine Michaelsen will host the framework . In the third and fourth edition, Oliver Kalkofe also commented on the events and assessed the respective shows.
The show is produced by Florida TV and was awarded the German TV Prize in 2017 .
Show concept
Joko Winterscheidt and Klaas Heufer-Umlauf present alternately three (up to episode 4 four) shows with a length of about 20 to 30 minutes. Some of the shows presented are new show ideas, but are also based on existing television show formats that are slightly modified and parodied . Once per issue, the two can force the other to participate in a show (“joker”).
In the first four episodes, the studio audience used voting devices to determine the audience rating for the show, which was shown live as a graphic to the television viewer at home. This graphic was removed in issue 5 on December 2, 2017. Each of the total of 600 people in the studio could switch on or off during the show using their voting device, which works like a remote control, as if they were sitting in front of the television at home. Over the entire duration of the show, it could be switched on or off as often as desired. The course of the audience therefore suggested how well or badly the show was received by the studio audience. However, this was only visible to the TV viewer at home, not to the studio audience. Up until the second edition of the program, a “cloud of light” consisting of white spheres that were fixed above the studio and illuminated with lasers was installed in the studio, which visualized the audience rating through its brightness. The more spectators from the studio audience tuned in, the brighter the cloud of light became. Since the third edition there is no more. At the end of a show, the average audience rating is determined and announced. The show that has the highest audience rating wins. If the audience rating falls below 25% during a show, it enters a "red area" (colored red on the graphic). This is now also signaled audiovisually in the studio (light turns red and the image on the video wall in the background falls apart). If the audience rating stays below 25% for more than a minute, the show must be stopped and is considered "canceled". The audience rating generated up to that point expires.
Since the fifth episode, no quota has been generated during the show. Instead, at the end of the program, viewers in the audience choose the show that they liked best from all six concepts presented. "The worst show in the world" is also determined.
With issue 8, the rating system largely returned to the system of the 3rd and 4th issue, but the quota is faded out around one minute after the start of each broadcast and when the average quota is announced, quotas of 80% or more are only considered a "quota hit" whose exact quota is only resolved at the end of the show.
Joko or Klaas win a trophy for the “best show in the world”, the German TV Award in an oversized version (referred to in the program as “German TV Award in XXL”) as a parody of the real German TV Award .

Standalone shows
Separate programs developed from at least three shows:
- From October 15, 2016, ZDF showed 15 episodes of the program Koch im Ohr on Saturdays , which has a distant resemblance to Klaas' Das Auge kocht mit from the second show, but differs in that two teams compete against each other and the candidates do not look at the eyes get connected. - The show My Idiot Friend from the second edition of the show, moderated by Klaas, was included in ProSieben 's program in November 2016 as an independent TV show with initially two episodes . However, two celebrities play against each other with three of their friends. - On October 28, 2017, ProSieben showed It is expensive under the name Beginner gegen Winner as an independent Saturday evening show, although it was Joko's worst-rated show of the third edition. Joko moderates the show without Klaas.
- Time Battle - fight for your time! , a game show broadcast by ProSieben from August 25, 2018, is reminiscent of Die Tribute von Winterscheidt from episode 3, but in the former something must be actively done for the time. In contrast to the variant in the best show in the world, the show flopped in the regular program.
- Joko Winterscheidt won the seventh edition with the show Earn Your Song . Even before the broadcast, ProSieben announced that this format would be shown in Late Prime in the near future. Winterscheidt will also take over the moderation here. The show was later renamed Win Your Song .
