Maite Star Kelly (born December 4, 1979 in West Berlin ; real name Maite Star Raimond ) is an Irish singer , actress and author . She is the second youngest child in the Kelly Family and was the only one of the siblings born in Germany. She worked as a singer in the family band in her youth and later started a solo and musical career .

life and career

Maite Kelly is the eleventh of twelve siblings of Irish American Family Kelly Family band with which it was already early on the stage and through Europe toured. She contributed to the band as a singer and several of her pieces, such as Every Baby , have been performed and released by the band. After the great successes with her siblings, she graduated from high school in the USA. Her Spanish first name goes back to the producer Maite Itoiz, today's wife of her brother John. It was Maite Itoiz's parents who inspired the Kellys in Gamonal to play Spanish music and the second youngest of the Kelly siblings next to the name Star, since the family was already a star back then, which is why it was named Maite Star. To avoid confusion, John's wife is only called by her nickname Maiticho and despite marrying into the Kelly Family, she still bears the name Maite Itoiz to this day.

In 2007 she finally recorded her first solo album and gave numerous concerts, the proceeds of which went partly to her Togo project, for which she worked as a teacher. In 2009 the presented The Unofficial Album was released as their first solo album, which, however, did not make it into the charts. In the same year she also contributed some songs for the Disney film "Tinkerbell - The Search for the Lost Treasure". On March 29, 2013 Kelly released her third studio album Wie ich bin , on which she interpreted German hits for the first time and placed 87th on the German album charts for a week. In May 2014, Roland Kaiser's studio album Seelenbahnen was released , which includes two duets between Kaiser and Kelly: Say just don't say Hello and Why didn't you say no . In September 2014, she and Kaiser published the duet Why didn't you say no as a single with the accompanying music video, which received a gold record for over 150,000 units sold in Germany in 2016 , which was the first award for a single for Kelly.

In February 2015 her first book, written with Britta Sabbag , was published with the title You are you! from the children's book series Die kleine Hummel Bommel , in which primarily a fictional story about the bee bumblebee is put on paper. In the same year she received the LovelyBooks Readers Award in the children's book category . The first non-fictional picture book came out in 2019 with Die kleine Hummel Bommel Discovered die Wiese . Over twenty volumes have now appeared within the series.

In October 2016, she released Kelly's fourth and triple gold album Seven Lives for You . In 2018, her fifth studio album, Love wins anyway , came out, which got a gold mark. She is also in great demand as an actress. Detlev Buck cast her as the cat friend Lulu in his movie Wuff - Follow the Dog . Maite Kelly was married to the model Florent Michel Raimond from August 27, 2005. The couple has three daughters (* 2006, * 2008 and * 2014). On October 6, 2017, Kelly and Raimond announced their split on their Facebook pages. A year later, Kelly reported on the divorce that took place in January 2018. However, as it became known in May 2019, the marriage was not divorced but annulled in order to continue receiving the sacraments as practicing Catholics. With her ex-husband she continues to sell the natural cosmetics brand Aroma Gardens in addition to her fashion collection at Bonprix .

social commitment

Kelly got involved in a social project in Togo , where she lived for half a year and also worked as a teacher.

Maite Kelly showed her first public social engagement in 2011 as the front woman of the Germany-wide information campaign "With all my might against cancer" of the German Cancer Aid . Kelly, who lost her mother to breast cancer, supports the work of the German Cancer Aid Foundation against the widespread disease together with researchers and those affected and is advised by Rita Schmutzler and Christian Reinhardt from Cologne University Hospital in her campaign .
