Jimmy Kelly was born in Gamonal as the seventh child of the American teacher Daniel Jerome Kelly and the third child of the American dancer Barbara Ann. He has four half and seven full siblings. From early childhood on, Jimmy Kelly traveled with his family as a street musician through Europe and the USA and played several concerts a day as he got older. For the band he composed the songs Cover the road , Nanana , What's a matter you people , So many troubles and Blood, among others .
Solo career

In 2005 Kelly published his solo debut as James Kelly with Babylon , which contained songs from his time with the Kelly Family. In 2008 the album Roots followed and in 2009 the CD Roots - Diggin 'Deeper , both with traditional songs and also released under the name James Kelly. In 2010 his solo album The Hometown Sessions was released on Flowfish Records . In 2006 Jimmy Kelly made guest appearances on Judy Bailey's live album Surrounded . Kelly appears in clubs or as a street musician with a folk band. In 2012 and 2013 his tour called Viva la street takes him through large parts of Europe. Kelly composes, sings, plays guitar, piano, drums, tin whistle , djembé and flute. In 2013 Jimmy Kelly released his solo album "Viva la street". For this he was supported by a multi-headed band, the "Street Orchestra". This consists mainly of street musicians that Jimmy had met in the course of his street concerts. His wife Meike and his cousin Mike Kelly also belong to the band. The CD "Viva las street" was Jimmy's first solo CD on which he recorded his own pieces without exception - some songs that he had sung live during the Kelly Family days (such as Dance, New York and Warriors of love). In 2014 he and his "Street Orchestra" released a live CD & live DVD, which were recorded at the concerts in Stuttgart and Berlin. In 2015 Jimmy was drawn to the streets again and because most of these concerts are more or less secret, he wanted to let his fans participate with at least a specially recorded CD "On the street". Here Jimmy is only accompanied by 2 musicians and covers songs, traditionals and his own pieces are presented. His biographical book Streetkid was published in 2017 .
Since 2017 he has appeared again with five to six siblings in the group The Kelly Family . Jimmy Kelly is married and has three children.
