Kathleen Anne "Kathy" Kelly (born March 6, 1963 in Leominster , Massachusetts ) is an Irish-American singer. She is the third oldest child in the Kelly Family and has also been working as a soloist since 2001 .

Private life

Kathy Kelly is the second oldest daughter of Daniel Kelly (1930–2002) and his first wife Janice (1935–2018). In 1969 the family moved from the United States to Spain . After the parents' divorce, she and her three siblings stayed with their father and his new wife, Barbara-Ann. She was also challenged in the private sphere from a young age when she had to take over the mother role for the smaller siblings after the early death of Barbara-Ann Kelly in 1982. In 1998 she had been in contact with her birth mother, who last lived in Scotland . Their son was born on December 14, 1992.

Career

Making music was an important part of family life from an early age, so when she was nine, Kathy Kelly learned to play the violin and piano at the Pamplona and Madrid Conservatories . When she was 15 years old, her father decided to finance the family's further life as a street musician. During this time she was also taught and studied violin at the age of 16 in Vienna . As a child she also received regular ballet lessons. Although she graduated as a prima ballerina , music played the bigger role in her life from the age of 17. For many years she was also responsible as a producer for the musical side of the Kelly Family CD productions.

In 1999 her first solo album The Best of Kathy Kelly was released , which was still strongly influenced by the family. In 2001 she went her own way for the first time: that was the title of the new album Morning of My Life , she presented herself in a new appearance and found her own style, which is characterized by classic, Spanish, French and Irish elements. She plays acoustic songs with piano , percussion and vocals, but also pop pieces with bass and Spanish guitar . In late 2002 she released her third album Straight from My Heart . In 2003 she started her first solo tour in Berlin at the Brandenburg Gate . She made another debut in Heidelberg with the opera Das Telefon or Die Liebe zu threes by the composer Gian Carlo Menotti . In 2005 she recorded the album Godspel with well-known gospels , new compositions and a Latin " Our Father ". Her brothers Angelo and Jimmy were involved in the studio recordings. In 2007 she appeared on the album Horch, what comes from outside with Die Ölbergkinder . Back together as the Kelly Family with siblings Joey, Patricia, Maite and Paul or Jimmy (for Maite Roncalli), she performed in 2007/2008 on the “More Good News” church tour, at open-air and indoor concerts as well as at Circus Roncalli & Kelly Family on.

In autumn 2008 she went on a solo tour with pianist Andy Recktenwald; At the beginning of 2009 a tour with Michael Hirte followed . Kelly has been touring with the Godspel European Tour since 2009 with solo performances and community concerts with well-known gospel, shanty and children's choirs. In November 2010 she took part in the casting for Das Supertalent . In the summer of 2011, she was one of ten candidates for the ProSieben show Die Alm . From 2017 to 2020, she appeared again with her siblings as the Kelly Family. Kelly has been participating in the 8th season of Celebrity Big Brother on Sat1 since August 2020 .
