The Ölbergkinder , formerly the Ölbergkinderchor , are a children's choir from Wuppertal . The Choir vom Ölberg , a settlement area in the north of Wuppertal , has released numerous LPs and CDs since it was founded in the early 1980s.
history
The choir emerged in the early 1980s from a private commitment to school children in Wuppertal. The goal of the choir is less the musical education of the children than their meaningful occupation and enthusiasm for music and dance.
Works
In the late 1990s, the choir took part in a production of Humperdinck's opera Hansel and Gretel at the Schillertheater NRW .
Former Federal President Johannes Rau was one of the admirers of the children's choir , who declared it to be his “favorite choir ”. Several appearances at his birthday and other celebrations prove this.
Concerts at a UNICEF gala , at the Dalai Lama , at charity galas in Cologne and on the Petersberg, a concert tour to Lithuania with Roswitha Dasch, multiple appearances in the Federal Chancellery, over 950 appearances and more than 10,000 CDs sold have been booked since the beginning.
On their last album, Horch, Was geht vor als aus Außen rein (2007), Kathy Kelly , 35sec. , Lex Easy & the Mamboclub , Iris-Panknin-Band , Lot 4 de la sala and Vladimir Burkhardt participated.
