The Bonprix mbH (proper spelling bonprix mbH ) is a German fashion provider in the shipping trade . Today's subsidiary of the Otto Group , founded in 1986 , is based in Hamburg .

history

The foundation stone for the company was laid in 1986 by Hans-Joachim Mundt and Michael Newe. In 1988, Josef Teeken, a third person joined the management. In 1989, the DM 1 million turnover limit was reached. A few weeks after the start of the company, the first catalog came on the market, it had 32 pages; In 2015 the catalogs were over 200 pages.

The company has been on the Internet since 1997. In 2011, more than 50% of orders were placed online. In 1999 the first branch in Hamburg was opened on Fuhlsbüttler Strasse . This was followed by other shops in northern Germany. The company now has 10 branches in Germany.

Bonprix employs around 3,000 people and has been pursuing a multichannel strategy since the late 1990s . The company sells a range of clothing, house and home textiles as well as small furniture and accessories via three channels, consisting of catalog business, e-commerce and branches . The online shop has now developed into the company's most important sales channel.

The company is one of the top 10 mail order companies in Germany and today reaches over 30 million customers in 30 countries worldwide, 9.5 million of them in Germany. With sales of 1.512 billion euros in the 2016/17 financial year, the company is one of the top-selling companies in the Otto Group.

Bonprix has a quality test procedure, the so-called Ecotex standard. Its guidelines are based on the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 . The company is also active in sustainability issues. Since 1991 the company has pursued a strategy of expansion into other European countries. The company is represented in 30 countries.
