Wuff - Follow the Dog (working title: Alles Wuff ) is a German romantic comedy film by Detlev Buck from 2018 with Emily Cox , Johanna Wokalek , Marie Burchard , Maite Kelly , Kostja Ullmann , Frederick Lau , Urs Jucker and Bastian Reiber . The premiere took place on October 17, 2018 at the Zoo Palast in Berlin . The film was released in German and Austrian cinemas on October 25, 2018.

The focus is on the four friends Ella, Cécile, Lulu and Silke, whose lives and relationships are influenced by their dogs in several episodes . The journalist Ella has just been left by her boyfriend Oscar and takes in the mixed breed Bozer. When he runs away, it leads her into the arms of the attractive Daniel. Cécile has a marital crisis and is about to divorce her husband Max. Her dog Simpson is not only there for her children, he even manages to save the peace of the family.

Meanwhile, cat friend Lulu meets her new crush, the dog lover Prof. Dr. Seligmann. Silke sees herself as a professional dog trainer with four-legged friends, but she has a hard time with people. At least until she meets ex-professional footballer Oli. He is easily overwhelmed after he unexpectedly has to take care of the dog Elfriede and therefore attends a course from Silke, who he likes very much. The instincts of the dogs ultimately ensure that the paths of life move towards a happy end .

The shooting took place from September 6th to October 30th, 2017 in Berlin , Altenfeld and Weimar . The film was produced by DCM Mitte Productions GmbH , with Bucket and SevenPictures GmbH as co-producers .

The production was supported by the Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg GmbH, the Filmförderungsanstalt , the Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung , the German Filmförderfonds and the FilmFernsehFonds Bayern .

Ingken Benesch was responsible for the costume design, Paul Oberle for the sound, Christina Baier and Jan Kempkens-Odemski for the make-up and Sebastian Soukup for the production design.

reception

Barbara Petsch found in the daily Die Presse that the film would look like some of the newer American children's films, "not badly made, but off the assembly line and too experienced to be good." The comedy would be quick at first, but after a while a bit lengthy and too many coincidences would pile up.

Horst-Günther Fiedler wrote in TV-Media that such a film would be good for every dog lover in times when the world is discussing fighting dogs , muzzle obligations and holding bans. “Especially if he is so well crafted.” In this attractively photographed and friendly colored romance, Detlev Buck would be able to bring professionals and amateurs, dogs and people under one good-humored hat.
