action

Ten-year-old Emma is looking forward to her holidays with Grandma Dolly in the country. After her arrival, however, she has to find out that old Mr Klipperbusch has died and that his sleazy nephew Albert Gansmann, known as “The Alligator”, is trying everything to get his legacy. The old horse Mississippi is part of his estate, which he tries to get rid of at the butcher Pit, which Emma can only keep him from by a higher bid. A short time later, Gansmann reappears and wants Mississippi back for 500 euros. It is immediately clear that pure horse love can never be the reason for this. After Emma and her friends finally uncovered Albert Gansmann's secret, Albert Gansmann doesn't even shrink from kidnapping.

Reviews

“A film adaptation of a children's book by Cornelia Funke, garnished with lots of slapstick and witty ideas, told by director Detlev Buck in beautiful, kitschy pictures and an almost unworldly 'ideal world' romance; simple entertainment for young bookworms and horse lovers. "

“Without a doubt, this is the best adaptation of a novel by bestselling author Cornelia Funke ('Lord of Thieves') to date. Director Detlev Buck created a nostalgic work in the style of the Astrid Lindgren film adaptations, in which Christoph Maria Herbst in particular is allowed to shine as a nasty dark man. "

“Buck puts his stamp on the film with a series of details, whether he is the last member of a cycling team to push his vehicle or a small child smiling into the camera for a few seconds. Only when the action is pushed forward does the laugh factor decrease. 'Hands Off Mississippi' joins this handful of children's films that delight viewers of all ages without the need to introduce adult parallel plots. "
