A role showers is a German short film by Detlev Buck from 1987. The film was made as part of a seminar paper at the dffb .

action

The short film reports in five minutes about the experience of a man who goes to a public shower in swimming trunks . A sign indicates that showering is only allowed in the nude, but just as he is about to begin, a young female cleaner begins to mop the floor of the shower room. At first he is embarrassed. He undresses anyway and does what he came to do.

When his shower gel falls on the floor, it slips close to the young lady. It prevents him from picking it up again. Instead, she undresses too and within seconds they both glow in a fiery love game - a daydream , as it turns out. Because when the man opens his eyes again, the clothed lady hands him his shower gel and continues her work unaffected.

background

The short film was made as part of a seminar at the film academy. The task was to shoot a film with just one roll of film within a single day. Buck found the two main actors on the evening before the shoot, who made themselves available at short notice. In fact, the material was completely shot within approx. 7 hours with an extremely economical rotation ratio of 1: 2, i.e. 5 minutes of the film were made from 10 minutes of material.

The film was used as a supporting film to Buck's early work First the work and then? shown in the cinema and thus achieved a certain level of awareness.

Award

The film was awarded the Kodak Prize for Young Directors at the Hof International Film Festival.
