Emily Cox

Emily Cox (born February 23, 1985 in Vienna ) is a British theater and film actress . She grew up in Austria and lives in Vienna and Berlin .

biography

Emily Cox was born to a British father and an Irish mother. Cox's parents are both pianists and came to Austria on a scholarship. She grew up bilingual (English and German) in Vienna .

After graduating from high school in 2003, she studied acting at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna.

While still studying, she made her film debut in 2008 in Tobias Dörr's short film Verwehte (2008) alongside Susanne Lothar and Ulrich Mühe . The role of the "girl" brought her the acting award of the International Film Festival of the Vienna Film Academy . Cox then took on many different roles in film and television.

Her most important roles so far include the leading role of Gretchen Dutschke-Klotz in Stefan Krohmer's combined documentary and feature film Dutschke , as well as "Mizzi", the neurological disorder daughter of Johannes Krisch in the Austrian film drama Die Vaterlosen , and the role of Liesl in The silent mountain .

She had her international breakthrough as Brida , one of the leading roles in the BBC / Netflix series The Last Kingdom , based on the Saxon Stories by Bernard Cornwell .
