Greed is a television film from the crime series Tatort , which first aired on June 7, 2015. It is the 950th episode in the series, the 36th case of the Austrian investigator Moritz Eisner and the twelfth case of the Eisner / Fellner investigative team.

action

The young laboratory assistant Roswita Mader was fatally injured in an accident involving hydrofluoric acid in a chemical plant . Your poorly processed chemical protective suit is to blame. Since she was the godchild of section head Ernst Rauter, his colleagues Moritz Eisner and Bibi Fellner are entrusted with the case. The Wendler Group, to which the company belongs, is owned by Peter Wendler, who is in jail for sexual harassment of his wife, Sabrina Wendler. She has an affair with her lawyer friend Dr. Viktor Pershava. Meanwhile, Eisner and Fellner cannot promise the angry Helmut Mader that they will hold a certain person responsible for the death of his pregnant wife Roswita. Eisner and Fellner find out that she was probably the victim of a leaky protective suit. The domestic worker Gupta Kumar watches Sabrina Wendler as she threatens her lover Viktor Perschawa while having fun with her gun. This causes him to explain to her that he feels responsible for the death of Roswita Mader, which, however, does not correspond to Sabrina Wendler's view. They have already gone too far and Perschawa needs a fresh start, by which he means that he wants to sell the Wendler Group, which Sabrina Wendler is against.

Perschawa visits Peter Wendler in prison, where the two get very close, shortly afterwards Perschawa is found dead in his office. At the scene of the crime, Eisner and Fellner find a button on a jacket that should belong to the perpetrator. Fellner learns from Perschawa's secretary Schneider that Sabrina Wendler also had a key to Perschawa's office. She concludes that this could be the perpetrator. Eisner and Fellner check the weapon in Sabrina Wendler's villa, which is in the associated box, and inform her of the death notice. Eisner interrogates Peter Wendler in the prison and finds out that he is quite clever. Eisner and Fellner arrest Sabrina Wendler as the perpetrator, have their villa searched and they carried away. Sabrina Wendler is aggressively interrogated by Eisner and Fellner. In the meantime, Secretary Schneider and Gupta Kumar have taken their fingerprints. Although Sabrina Wendler remains in custody, Fellner is not satisfied. On the banks of the Danube Canal , Eisner and Fellner talk to each other and discover discrepancies that are increasingly burdening the secretary Schneider. They speak to Schneider about their deed: she admits it, the button found at the crime scene also belongs to her jacket. Schneider killed Perschawa because he wanted to sell the Wendler Group and she could not reconcile this with her conscience, after all, she had been working for the family company for decades. Gupta Kumar was her accomplice, who brought her the weapon from Sabrina Wendler, who had now gone into hiding and was provided with money from Peter Wendler, who has since been released.

Sabrina Wendler is dismissed because of her proven innocence and returns to her villa, where Peter Wendler awaits her and strangles her with his tie.

Wendler appears at the funeral of Roswita Mader and throws a bouquet of flowers on the coffin, which is tied with the murder weapon (his tie). He expresses his condolences to Helmut Mader and tells him that he hopes to have done a little justice. He is alluding to the murder of his wife (she had signed to agree to the delivery of leaky protective suits for her company, which is why Roswita Mader died). Peter Wendler approaches Eisner and Fellner and says he is ready, his wife is at home, but won't run away. Eisner and Fellner understand what he means and lead Peter Wendler away.

Reviews

"In the current episode 'Greed' [...] the television investigators are now below their level. The bad joke works hard, the chemical industry acts as a cheap backdrop. "

“For years, the ORF episodes were an adornment of the format, with their challenging stories and distinguished commissioners. [...] The past episodes were then rather tough, but reliably bizarre [...] The episode 'Greed', however [...] is Odenthal's blandness. "
