occupation

Bring Marie! (Working title: Irgendwann ... ) is a television film from the crime series Tatort , which was first broadcast on October 14, 2018 on ORF , in the program Das Erste and on SRF 1 . It is the 1068th episode in the series, the 43rd case of the Austrian investigator Moritz Eisner and the 19th joint case of the Eisner / Fellner investigative team .

action

In Mitterndorf an der Fischa a charred body is found near a lonely dirt road in a wooded area. Investigations reveal that the man was whose teeth were knocked out, shot in the chest and then set on fire. At the place where the corpse was found, where it had been lying for about two or three days, there is also an empty cartridge case and skid marks, which lead to the question of why someone brakes heavily on an open and straight route and tears the steering wheel in the process. The investigators agree that someone went to great lengths to cover up the traces; the perpetrators may have been professionals. Since the corpse would have been too heavy for a single person and there are no grinding marks at the site, they assume that there are several perpetrators.

Fellner arrives at the recording of a gas station camera near the place where it was found, which puts her on the trail of her old friend "Inkasso Heinzi". A search in the Central Arms Register shows that he actually has a suitable pistol. She tells her colleague Eisner nothing about her findings and goes to see Heinz on her own. He provides plausible answers to your questions and Fellner sees no further reason to distrust him.

The identity of the deceased can finally be clarified based on its DNA . Edin Gavric was involved in a long-ago murder case. The data obtained at that time match those of the charred corpse. The investigators suspect that Gavric was working as a messenger for the "Dokta", a major criminal who had been active in the Viennese underworld for decades. The Dokta, however, claims not to know Gavric. Fellner and Eisner does not seem believable, because who should be so tired of life to attack and rob the Dokta of all things. And Dokta also wants to find the murderer and, above all, have his money back.

On the basis of the video recordings of the gas station, Eisner Inkasso suspects Heinzi as a possible perpetrator and orders a ballistic examination of his seized pistol and the cartridge case found. This shows that Heinzi's pistol is the murder weapon. Fellner confesses to Eisner that he offered Heinzi accommodation. She left her mobile phone in Heinzi's car, which can be used to track the location. Based on Heinzi's story from the day before, Fellner suspects that Inkasso Heinzi and Pico “Bello”, who is planned by Dokta as his successor, have a relationship and are in cahoots.

The telephone surveillance of Marija Gavric, Edin's widow, shows that Heinzi and Pico want to meet at the Bad Vöslau motorway exit in order to escape together with the stolen money and start a new life in Greece, where they met in the summer of the previous year to have met. There Pico is shot by Marija Gavric. Pico dies in the arms of Heinzi, while Heinzi sometime stay there then sings about STS . Heinzi is arrested by the police. Pico's confession, recorded on video before his death, on which he admits the murder of Edin Gavric can be found on a USB stick.

Reviews

Volker Bergmeister from tittelbach.tv found that director Barbara Eder staged a well-built story in a very varied and lively manner. He also praised Matthias Pötsch's camera work. “Some settings resemble a painting.” Stefan Hafner and Thomas Weingartner would rely on figures that fluctuate between reality and caricature. The dialogues are precise and sometimes wonderfully pointed. The story turns out to be opaque at the beginning, but would remain increasingly clear and exciting until the finale.

Jens Szameit described the film in the Weser Kurier as “Alpine Tarantino with a Braunschlag side”. The Viennese would bathe waist-deep in the Strizzi cliché. “A lot of fun - provided you understand a little bit about the dialogues. [...] Because even if you only get half of the dialect speech sorted [...] this Ösi crime scene is an experience. "

Christian Buß from Spiegel Online called the film a "sleazy old-school crime thriller that has real moments with all Viennese brothel folklore." One feels reminded of Hotte in Paradise . This crime scene episode is "smear theater at the highest level, the dialogues are dry, the images drinkable, but not voyeuristic."

Isabella Wallnöfer rated this Tatort episode in the daily newspaper Die Presse with 9 out of 10 points and wrote that the script offered a very Viennese crook story, director Barbara Eder staged her second Tatort with a light retro patina. “The villains are rocking around in square old cars, wearing vintage leather jackets and holding court in yellowish, smoky restaurants that no longer exist in the whole of the EU. Only in Vienna. "
