Deadly Souvenirs is the title of a crime scene crime thriller. The ORF television film based on a script by Felix Mitterer was first broadcast on June 22, 2003 and is the 536th episode in the crime scene series. For Major Moritz Eisner, alias Harald Krassnitzer, it is the 9th case in which he investigates a series of murders against tourists who are all regular guests of a hotel. In search of the motive and the murderer, Eisner and his assistant Gschnitzer have to look far into the past.

content

In the lively tourist town of Lahnenberg, fatal accidents are increasing. The fact that snow globes were found in all of the victims suggests a planned killing rather than accidental accidents. The murderer leaves behind such a "deadly souvenir" with every victim. They also lived in the same hotel, which now fears a drop in sales and this increases the pressure to succeed on the investigative team.

The suspect is the DJ and animator Jan Becker, who is employed at the Alpenhotel and who had a solid argument with one of the murder victims the day before. In addition, as an animator, he is well versed in the details of the recreational sports that have killed victims.

Werner Kofler, the brother of the Lahnenberg hotel emperor, is also suspect, as he can no more identify with the nature of modern tourism than his old father. In addition, all three victims were regular guests of the hotel. And since the hotel of the mayor Robert Stöckl is on the verge of bankruptcy because he is no longer able to cope with the competitive pressure of the Koflers, he too would have every reason to harm them.

During their investigation, Eisner and Gschnitzer come across an older incident in which a guest at the Alpenhotel died. The witnesses who confirmed this accident were precisely the guests who were just being killed one after the other. The investigators take a closer look at Markus Kofler and it turns out that Markus Kofler raped and murdered a young woman around 15 years ago. Although everything was disguised by him as an accident, now everything threatens to come to light. However, it was not Markus Kofler who planned and carried out the murders in detail, but Jan Becker, who, as it turns out, is the son of those killed at the time. He wanted to hold everyone responsible for his mother's death. In the end, he can kill Werner Kofler - but Eisner manages to arrest Jan Becker before he can kill Markus Kofler.

background

The shooting took place in 2002, the shooting locations were the Mieminger Plateau and the Ötztal . The exterior photos of the hotel were taken in Seefeld in Tirol . The fictitious place name Lahnenberg is reminiscent of Mitterer's tourism-critical film satire “ The Piefke Saga ”, in which Ludwig Dornauer was also cast.
