Justin Astley (born May 20, 1983 ) is an English snooker player .

Career

Astley became a professional player in 2001 and took part in the 2002/03 season for the first time in the qualifications for the tournaments of the Snooker Main Tour . However, he had to accept some first round defeats. It was most successful in qualifying for the 2003 World Snooker Championship , when he won two games and only lost to Mark Selby in the round of the last 80 .

He managed to return to the Main Tour for the 2005/06 season via 3rd place on the 2004/05 Challenge Tour . The best results of the season for him were getting into the round of 64 at the Welsh Open and China Open . Nevertheless, he had to leave the professional tour at the end of the season and from then on played on the Pontin's International Open Series ; the successor to the Challenge Tour.

There he reached places 20, 21 and 39 in the seasons 2006/07 to 2008/09. In the 2009/10 season, however, he landed in 7th place, which meant he could qualify for the Main Tour again for the following season . However, he again failed to establish himself on the professional tour in the long term. After all, he managed to reach the round of 32 twice on the Players Tour Championship .

Again as an amateur, he played a convincing qualification for the 2012 World Snooker Championship . He won four games; including against Tony Drago and failed only in the round of the last 64 against Liang Wenbo .
