The 2005/06 snooker season was a series of snooker tournaments that were part of the Main Tour . It consisted of ten competitions: In six world ranking tournaments, in addition to titles and prize money, world ranking points were awarded, there were also three invitation tournaments and one non-ranking tournament.

The British Open was not on the tournament calendar for the first time in 21 years . The Irish Masters as well as the Merseyside Professional were also canceled after three years as a ranking tournament . For this, the Northern Ireland Trophy was held in Belfast for the first time , which also opened the season on August 17, 2005. It also had the status of an invitation tournament like the Pot Black Cup , which was revived after a long break. In this cup, however, it was only a one-day show tournament, in which a decision was made in a single frame about progress or tournament victory. The Irish Professional Championship was also revived, but only Irish and Northern Irish players could participate. The season traditionally ended on May 1, 2006 with the final of the World Cup.
