final
The Northern Irishman Joe Swail and the Irish ex-world champion Ken Doherty had both won the Irish Professional Championship once - Swail in 1992, Doherty in 1993. Now they met for the first time in the final of the tournament. Swail had largely reached the final without any problems and only had to give up frames when he defeated Gerard Greene in the semi-final. Ken Doherty had to do this before and only reached the final in the decider against Fergal O'Brien . There are no exact frame results from the final itself, but in a close game with a total of three Century Breaks Swail won 9: 7.
