The VC Poker Irish Professional Championship 2006 was a professional snooker tournament during the 2006/07 season without affecting the world rankings. The tournament was to determine the total Irish professional champion from 9 to 11 October 2006 at the Spawell Sport and Leisure Complex in Ireland Templeogue in South Dublin discharged. The winner was ex-world champion Ken Doherty , who won his second title at this tournament in the final against Michael Judge . In addition, the Irishman also played the highest break of the tournament with a 140 break.
Prize money
The tournament was again sponsored by VC Poker . Compared to the previous year there was only about two thirds of the prize money to be won, which was paid out in full (£ 4,730 or € 7,000) to the winner.
Tournament course
In contrast to the last three editions, 16 players took part in the tournament, so there was no qualification and all players started directly in the main round. In this, the winner was determined in the knockout system . The eighth and quarter finals took place in the best of 9 frames mode , followed by the semi-finals in the best of 11 frames mode and the final in the best of 17 frames mode .

final
For Ken Doherty it was already the third final participation in the Irish Professional Championship: After he had triumphed in 1993, he had lost to Joe Swail last year. Swail was eliminated in the quarterfinals earlier this year. Doherty started the tournament without any problems, but had to fight Joe Delaney in the quarterfinals and only defeated him when the score was 5: 4. The semi-final against Mark Allen, however, was a clear affair with 6-2. In the final he met Michael Judge, who had only lost one frame per round. But in the final, for which no exact frame results are available, things went differently: Doherty won one frame after the other and finally won 9: 4.
