Yūji Funayama ( Japanese 船山 祐 二 Funayama Yūji ; born January 19, 1985 in Chiba Prefecture ) is a Japanese football player .

Career

Funayama learned to play football in the youth team of Kashiwa Reysol , the school team of the Ryutsu Keizai University Kashiwa High School and in the university team of the Ryutsu Keizai University . He signed his first contract with the Kashima Antlers in 2007 . The club played in the highest league in the country, the J1 League . With the club he became Japanese champions in 2007 and 2008 . For the Antlers he completed ten first division games. In July 2009 he was loaned to the second division club Cerezo Osaka . In 2009 he was runner-up in the J2 League with the club . For the club he completed 15 league games. In 2010 he returned to Kashima Antlers. In 2011 he moved to league competitor Montedio Yamagata . At the end of the 2011 season, the club was relegated to the J2 League. For the club he completed 46 league games. In 2013 he moved to league rivals Avispa Fukuoka . He was on the field 37 times for Avispa. In 2014 he moved to Thailand . Here he signed a contract with Army United . The Bangkok club played in the first division, the Thai Premier League . He returned to Japan in 2016 and played his final season with Tokyo Verdy .
