Army United FC ( Thai สโมสร ฟุตบอล อา ร์ มี่ ยู ไน เต็ ต ), until 2010 FC Royal Thai Army ( สโมสร ฟุตบอล ทหาร บก ) is a football club from the Thai capital Bangkok . The club is a military sports club of the Thai Armed Forces and played in the Thai League 2 until 2019 .

Club history

The Royal Thai Army FC was a founding member of the Thai Premier League in 1996 . Most of the time the club was in the lower regions of the table. As table eleventh you had to relegation in 1999. There you met the FC Royal Thai Navy . The Navy won the relegation and the Army dismounted for the first time. It took 6 years before the Army could climb back into the elite league. As champions of the Thailand Division 1 League , the club rose straight away. This was followed by a 6th and a 5th place, two solid placements in the league. All the more surprising was the 15th place in the table at the end of the 2008 season , which resulted in relegation. However, it only took one season to make the direct return. As the second in the Thai Premier League Division 1 you could qualify for the Thai Premier League. The club is entering the 2010 season with a team without any big stars. Mongkol Tossakrai, is the best known of all players. In addition, the club's management decided not to sign any foreign players. They finished the 2010 season with a 16th place. Normally you would have been relegated with this place in the table. However, the league was increased to 18 clubs, so that one remained in the league. Five Brazilians signed a contract with the Army for the season. One of the Brazilians, Leandro Dos Santos, scored 18 goals this season. In the 2013 season the club signed a strategic partnership with the English club Leicester City FC until the 2016 season they played first class. Army has been playing in the second division, the Thai League 2, since the 2017 season . In November 2019 it was decided to dissolve the association.

Stadion

The club should play its home games for the 2020 season at the Phra Ramesuan Stadium in Lop Buri . The stadium has a capacity of 5500 people. The owner and operator of the sports facility is the Lopburi Provincial Administration Organization.

Until 2019, the club played its home games in the 20,000-seat Royal Thai Army Stadium in Bangkok's Phaya Thai district .
