The club was founded in 2007 as Sena Municipality Football Club. The association was based in the Sena district in the city of Ayutthaya . In 2016 the club was renamed Ayutthaya United Football Club. Until 2015 the club played in the Khor Royal Cup. The renaming started in 2016 in the Regional League Division 2 , Region Central, the third division of Thailand. In the first season they finished fourth. The following two years they played in the Thai League 3 - Upper Region . In 2018 they finished second and rose to the Thai League 2 . The 2019 season was bottom of the table in the second division. Since Ubon United could not submit the required license documents and Thai Honda FC withdrew from the league, despite the last place in the table, they did not descend and remained in the second division.
Ayutthaya United FC plays its home games in Ayutthaya at the Ayutthaya Province Stadium (Thai: สนาม กีฬา จังหวัด พระนครศรีอยุธยา). The stadium is a multi-purpose stadium and has a capacity of 6000 spectators. The stadium is owned by the Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Provincial Administration Organization .
