Santi Chaiyaphuak ( Thai : สันติ ไชย เผือก , born July 19, 1978 in Ayutthaya ) is a former Thai football player who now works as a coach. Since 2018 he has been a coaching assistant at the Thai first division club Suphanburi FC .
Career
Soccer player
Santi began his career at Sinthana FC, which later merged with today's club FC Chula United. Sinthana took part in the AFC Champions League in the 1999/2000 season , but there is no evidence that he also played games for the club at this time. In total, he made 51 appearances for Sinthana in four years, and in 2004 he moved to Singapore . He also played for four years for the S-League club Tampines Rovers . He was able to celebrate two championships and two cup wins during this time. It was the first and only title in his career so far. Santi was one of the club's crowd favorites. After years in Singapore, due to homesickness among other things, he returned to Thailand in 2009 and has since played for Pattaya United . At first he had an offer from BEC-Tero Sasana , but in the end he decided on his current club. After 2 years and 41 games at Pattaya, he moved to Muangthong United in Bangkok in 2011 . During the 2011 season he went to Suphanburi FC where he was used in 22 games until mid-2012. He scored 5 goals. In 2012 he moved to TOT SC . Here he was on the field 6 times. For the return series he moved to Chainat Hornbill FC . Here he was on the field in three games. At the end of 2012 he ended his career as a footballer.
Trainer
Following his football career, he took up the post of assistant coach at Muangthong United . In 2018 he took over the coaching position at Ayutthaya United FC in the third division, the Thai League 3 . After a short interlude, he decided to give up the coaching position in mid-2018 and work again as an assistant coach in the first division. Since then he has been working as an assistant coach at the first division club Suphanburi FC . Since 2020 he has been the coach of the second division Ayutthaya United FC.
