Police Tero Football Club (formerly BEC-Tero Sasana) is a professional football club from the Thai capital Bangkok , which was founded in 1992 . The club's greatest achievement was reaching the 2003 AFC Champions League finals . The club currently plays in the highest Thai league, the Thai League .

Club history

The team after the Super Cup 2009

The club was founded in 1992 by Worawi Makudi in Bangkok under the name Sasana Witthaya School FC . Under the name Singha Tero Sasana , the club played its first season in the Premier League in 1996. After the club was sponsored by Tero Entertainment, the name was changed to Tero Sasana . The name BEC-Tero Sasana has been used since 1998 , after Tero Entertainment was bought by the BEC company. After two third places in the 1998 and 1999 seasons, the club won two championships in a row.

From 1999 to 2003 the club took part in the AFC Champions League . In 2003 the final could be reached completely surprisingly. The club's greatest success to date. After the return leg, the team was defeated by the Al Ain Club 1: 2. Since the two championships, the club has tried to build on old successes. Since the beginning of the 2008 season, the club has been coached by Christophe Larrouilh (born 1962), a French who was responsible for the youth academy of Arsenal FC in Thailand for years. Despite the new coach, in 2008, as in the previous two years, only third place remained at the end of the season.

The club has strong ties to Arsenal . So they opened a fan shop together in Bangkok in 2006. In 2009 the club took part in the Queen's Cup and failed in the final at Hallelujah FC from South Korea. The club repeatedly produced players for the national team of Thailand. One of the biggest stars in Thai football, Teerathep Winothai , played for BEC-Tero from 2006 to 2008. In January 2009 he moved to the Belgian second division club Lierse SK .

In June 2009, at the end of the first half of the season, Tawan Sripan was announced as the club's new coach. Tawan is a newcomer to coach and played for BEC-Tero until 2008 and he was one of the most famous and successful footballers in Thailand . His predecessor Christophe Larrouilh took up the post as Technical Director. BEC-Tero is in fifth place in the Thai League at the end of the first half of the season . Under Tawan, the club made it into the 2009 cup final . There they met FC Thai Port and lost in the end after a penalty shoot-out. The 2009 Premier League season ended in fourth place.

Partnerships

A strategic partnership with 4 other clubs was signed in January 2010 under the leadership of BEC-Tero Sasana. These are FC Chiang Mai, FC Ayutthaya, FC Hatyai and FC Sisaket . Among other things, the exchange of players between these clubs was agreed.

Stadion

The club plays its home games at the Boonyachinda Stadium (Thai: สนาม บุ ณ ยะ จินดา) in Bangkok . The stadium has a capacity of 3500 spectators. The stadium is a multi-purpose stadium. The stadium is owned and managed by the Royal Thai Police .
