The 2001/02 Thailand Premier League consisted of 12 teams. The last three were relegated to the 2nd division.

BEC Tero Sasana was able to successfully defend its title from the previous year and Osotspa achieved the best placement in the club's history with the runner-up.

In 2001/02 the league was called GSM Thai League for the first time .

Season notes

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration FC withdrew from the game operation for lack of financial resources. Rattana Bundit took the vacant seat. This was the second case within two years after the Thai Farmers Bank FC withdrew from gaming at the end of the 2000 season .

Queens Cup

FC Osotspa M-150 won the Queen's Cup for the first time .

Continental competitions

BEC Tero Sasana made it to the second round of the Asian Club Championship , but failed again due to the Kashima Antlers from Japan .

The Royal Thai Air Force made it to the 2nd round of the Asian Cup Winner's Cup , where they had to admit defeat to Home United from Singapore . Although they won the first leg at home, they lost 5-0 in the second leg.
