Thailand Premier League 1997

The 1997 season was the second season of the Thailand Premier League , founded in 1996 , the top soccer division in Thailand . The league was also known as the Johnnie Walker Thailand Soccer League at the time.

Eligible were the 12 best teams of the Thailand Premier League 1996/97 , which played in the mode everyone against everyone with a return leg. The champions became the FC Royal Thai Air Force , which celebrated its 12th title in the club's history. Defending champion FC Bangkok Bank took 3rd place in the final table, the last two FC Royal Thai Police (as losers of the relegation ) and FC Royal Thai Navy were relegated to the Thailand Division 1 League .

Relegation

The table eleventh FC Royal Thai Police had to compete in the relegation against the second in the Thailand Division 1 League , the FC Osotspa M-150 . FC Osotspa prevailed 1-0 and were promoted to the Thailand Premier League, while FC Royal Thai Police had to relegate to the Division 1 League.

Season Notes

  • Last year's runner-up Stock Exchange of Thailand played the season under the name Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) due to a sponsorship change

Queen's Cup

The 26th Queen's Cup was won again by Thai Farmers Bank , for the fourth time in a row. For the first time, the cup was played without teams from abroad.

Thailand FA Cup

Sinthana won the FA Cup for the first time in the club's history.
