Attaphol Buspakom , also called "Tak" ( แต๊ ก ), ( Thai : อรรถ พล บุ ษ ปา คม ; born October 1, 1962 in Sattahip , Thailand ; † April 16, 2015 in Bangkok ) was a Thai football coach and football player . Since 2010 he has trained in the Thai Premier League Buriram PEA . His greatest success as a coach was reaching the 2003 AFC Champions League finals .
Attaphol Buspakom is the father of Kanokpon Buspakom and Wannaphon Buspakom .
Player career
Attaphol began his career as a player with FC Port Authority of Thailand in 1985. In his first year he won his first championship with the club. He played for the club until 1989 and also won the Queen's Cup in 1987 . He then moved to Malaysia for Pahang FA for two seasons before returning to Thailand to his previous club. His period from 1991 to 1994 was less successful than his first stay at Port Authority. From 1994 to 1996 he played again for Pahang and this time he was able to win the Malaysian championship with the club and was also in the finals of the Malaysia Cup and the Malaysian FA Cup. However, both cup finals were lost. Back in Thailand, he let his active career end at the FC Stock Exchange of Thailand, with which he was runner-up again in 1996/97 . In 1998 he ended his career.
For the Thai national team , Buspakom played a total of 85 games between 1985 and 1998 and scored 13 goals. In 1992 he took part with the team in the finals of the Asian Football Championship . In addition, he was in various squads for qualifications for soccer world championships .
Coaching career
He started his coaching career at BEC-Tero Sasana in 2001, initially as an assistant coach. He took over the reigning champions of the Thai Premier League after his predecessor Pichai Pituwong resigned. It was his first coaching position and he had the tough job of leading the club through the new AFC Champions League . He was able to master this task with flying colors and even led the club to the finals. The final, at that time still played back and forth, was lost in the end against Al Ain Club with 1: 2. Attaphol is and was the only coach alongside Charnwit Polcheewin who managed to lead a club from Thailand to the final of the AFC Champions League. In 2002/03 and 2003/04 he also won two runners-up with the club. In his team, which reached the final of the Champions League, there were a number of exceptional players such as Therdsak Chaiman , Worrawoot Srimaka , Dusit Chalermsan and Anurak Srikerd .
In 2006 he went to Singapore in the S-League for Geylang United . There he was released after a few months for failure. In 2008 he took over the coaching position at FC Krung Thai Bank , where he had almost a similar job to what he had a few years earlier at BEC-Tero. As runner-up, the club was also qualified for the AFC Champions League . However, he failed to manage the club beyond the group stage of the 2008 season . With the Kashima Antlers from Japan and Beijing Guoan , the sporting competition was too great. Nevertheless, the club was able to set a highlight under his leadership. In the group game against the Vietnamese club ĐPM Nam Định his team won 9-1, but also lost four weeks later with 8-1 against the Kashima Antlers. At the end of the national league season he reached the 6th place in the table with Krung Thai. The club's first division license was sold to FC Bangkok Glass at the end of the season . Attaphol ended his coaching activity at the club and accepted an offer from FC Thai Port . After only a short time in office, he received an offer from Muang Thong United , which he accepted and moved.
Others
Attaphol had been in possession of the AFC A trainer license since 2003. His son, Wannaphon Buspakom, is a professional footballer at FC Osotspa-Saraburi .
