Surapong Kongthep ( Thai : สุรพง ษ์ คง เทพ , born January 18, 1979 in Bangkok ) is a Thai football coach who currently works in the highest Thai league, the Thai League , at Sukhothai FC .

Career

As a player he was active from 2007 to 2012 at FC Chula United , today's BBCU FC. In 2013 he signed a contract as a youth coach at Muangthong United in Bangkok . In 2015 he was loaned to Pattaya United , where he worked as an assistant coach. After the then English coach Sean Luke Sainsbury was dismissed in April 2015, he worked as an interim coach until July 2015. In July, the South Korean coach Lim Jong-heon took over responsibility for Pattaya United. After the season he moved back to Bangkok, where he became an assistant coach at BEC-Tero Sasana in 2016 . After the then Serbian coach Branko Smiljanić was dismissed on May 11, 2016, he took over the club as interim coach until the end of the 2016 season. In 2017 he signed a contract with Pattaya United. After the club Pattaya United was dissolved in late November, he took up his work at the successor club Samut Prakan City FC . After 6 months he left the club and signed a contract with league rivals Chiangmai FC . After the club relegated to the second division, the Thai League 2 , at the end of 2019 , he left the club and signed a contract with the first division side Sukhothai FC in Sukhothai .
